You know the one we’re talking about—the video showing a street completely swallowed by water, with cars looking like submarines and water just dey show everybody shege. The caption? “See what’s happening in Lekki right now!”
E reach to give person chest pain, especially with this kind of heavy rain we’ve been seeing.
Well, before you pack your bags and start looking for Noah’s Ark, abeg hold on!
The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, has come out to set the record straight. He has made it clear that the video, as wild as it looks, has absolutely nothing to do with Lekki or any part of Lagos for that matter.
In his own words, he pointed out that the incident actually happened far, far away from Nigeria.
So where did it happen? Bangladesh.
Yes, you read that right. Not Lekki, not V.I, not even anywhere in Africa. The video causing all this panic is from another continent entirely.
Now, make we no lie, rainy season for Lagos na serious business, and many areas (including Lekki) dey see water for real. But to dey carry video from another country to create unnecessary fear and panic for here? Nawa o!
So, the next time your uncle forwards that video in the family WhatsApp group with the caption “Pray for Lagos,” you can calmly tell him, “Uncle, relax. This one na international matter. E no concern us.”
Let’s all try to verify information before we share. As they say, no carry fake news for head like gele. Stay safe and stay informed correctly.
