Summary: Wahala! See the hot exchange as APC chieftain Joe Igbokwe drags Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, over his comments on the recent abductions in the state.
Omo! Politics for this our Nigeria no be small play at all. The gbas gbos is getting real, and this time, the exchange of words is between one of APC’s popular chieftains, Joe Igbokwe, and the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde.
The whole wahala started after Governor Makinde made some comments on Monday concerning the very serious issue of kidnappings that have been happening in Oyo State. While trying to address the situation, the Governor’s statement apparently did not sit well with some people.
You know how e dey be, man-like Joe Igbokwe, who no dey waste time to speak his mind, quickly rushed to his social media page to fire back.
According to Igbokwe, Governor Makinde’s statement was a huge embarrassment. He basically said that for a governor, a Chief Security Officer of a state, to make such remarks in the face of serious security challenges is not a good look at all.
In a post that has since gone viral, the APC chieftain wrote that Governor Makinde had “embarrassed himself” with his comments.
For people who follow Nigerian politics, this is the kind of cross-carpeting ‘vawulence’ we see every day. Joe Igbokwe is a staunch member of the ruling APC, while Seyi Makinde is one of the leading governors under the opposition PDP. So, naturally, any slip-up is an opportunity to score political points.
While we await a clapback from the Governor’s camp, the main concern for the average person in Oyo and across Nigeria remains the same: security. People want to see action and feel safe, not just hear talk from politicians.
So, what do you think? Was Joe Igbokwe right to call out the Governor, or is it just politics as usual? Let us know your thoughts
