Summary: INEC Lagos has introduced QR codes to help eligible voters quickly locate Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection centres near them. Here’s everything you need to know.
If you are a registered voter in Lagos and you have been wondering where to pick up your Permanent Voter Card (PVC), INEC just made things a whole lot easier for you.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State has rolled out a brand new QR code system designed to help eligible voters quickly and conveniently locate PVC collection centres across the state. No more running from pillar to post or spending hours on hold trying to get information — just scan and go.
What Is This QR Code System All About?
For those who may not be familiar, a QR code is that small, square-shaped barcode you can scan with your smartphone camera. Once scanned, it takes you directly to relevant information online — in this case, the nearest PVC collection centre to you.
INEC Lagos introduced this initiative ahead of the upcoming PVC collection exercise, making it one of the more tech-forward moves the commission has made in recent times. Given how Lagos can be — the traffic, the crowd, the general hustle — anything that saves voters time and stress is very much welcome.
Why This Matters for Lagos Voters
Let’s be honest — Lagos is not a small town. With millions of registered voters spread across local government areas from Badagry to Epe, Ikorodu to Lagos Island, finding the right collection centre can feel like finding a needle in a haystack.
This QR code initiative means that:
– You can locate your collection centre faster without needing to visit an INEC office in person
– You save time and transport costs by knowing exactly where to go before leaving your house
– The process becomes more transparent and accessible for everyday Nigerians, including those who are not deeply tech-savvy
How to Use the QR Code
Using the QR code is straightforward:
1. Open your smartphone camera or a QR code scanner app
2. Point it at the QR code provided by INEC
3. Follow the link that pops up on your screen
4. Find your nearest PVC collection centre and plan your visit
If you do not have a smartphone, do not panic — you can ask a friend or family member to help, or visit your nearest INEC office directly for assistance.
Don’t Sleep on Your PVC
Your PVC is your power. It is your voice. Whether you are voting in local government elections, governorship contests, or the big presidential race, that small card is what gives you a seat at the table where decisions about Nigeria’s future are made.
If you have registered but have not yet collected your PVC, now is the time to act. Do not wait until the last minute — Lagos does not forgive procrastination.
