The incident, which was captured on video and shared widely online, occurred on the morning of September 17. From the footage making the rounds, the suspect was discovered right on top of the uncompleted building, where he had reportedly already begun removing the roofing sheets.

Between the rising cost of building materials, the fluctuating exchange rate, and the general hustle of putting a roof over one’s head — literally — roofing sheets are no small investment. Residents and passersby who spotted the man wasted no time in raising the alarm, and he was subsequently apprehended before he could make away with the materials.
