The hustle to make a living is tough, but the wickedness some people carry in their hearts is on another level. A truly sad story is coming out of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, where a young man’s dreams have been violently cut short.
Imagine this: you’re a young man, just 27 years old. You work hard, save up your money, and finally buy yourself a brand new, “tear rubber” motorcycle to boost your okada business. You’re proud, you’re hopeful, ready to take your hustle to the next level. Then, in a flash, it’s all gone.
This is the tragic reality for a commercial motorcyclist in Mangu. According to reports, his life was brutally taken by suspected motorcycle snatchers who had their eyes on his new bike.
It was the soldiers of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) who discovered the body of the young rider. The heart-wrenching part of this story is that it seems he was targeted simply because his bike was new. These criminals saw his new investment, his source of livelihood, and decided it was worth more than his own life.
This incident is a painful reminder of the dangers our commercial motorcycle riders face every single day. They move around, often in remote areas and at odd hours, just to earn an honest living, but they have become easy targets for heartless marauders.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of this young man whose hustle was cut short so cruelly. May his soul rest in peace.
For all our hustlers and riders out there, please we beg you, shine your eye and stay safe. The streets are rough.
