Na wa o! The news we are getting from Plateau State this morning is one that will just break your heart and make you ask: “What is really going on in this country?”
Just like that, three young men have been sent to their early graves. Their crime? They were just trying to relax and cool down at a popular joint in the Heipang community of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
Information reaching us says that these gunmen, who many on the ground suspect are Fulani militias, stormed the relaxation spot and just opened fire on people who were minding their business. In the blink of an eye, three promising young men were gone forever.
As if that wasn’t wicked enough, the stray bullets also hit a young teenage girl who was in the area. Imagine! An innocent girl, caught up in a senseless attack. Thank God she is currently receiving treatment for her injuries, and we pray for her quick recovery.
This thing is becoming too much, abeg. Barkin Ladi has seen too much pain and bloodshed. How can people not feel safe even in a place where they go to unwind after a long day? You work hard, you just want to drink something cold, eat some pepper soup with your guys, and then some people with guns will just appear from nowhere to cut your life short?
Our hearts are heavy for the families of the young men who have been killed. Nobody deserves to get that kind of terrible news about their son, brother, or friend. This is a black day for the entire community and for Plateau State as a whole.
When will all this stop? For how long will innocent blood be shed on the Plateau?
We pray for the souls of the departed to find peace. May God give their families the strength to bear this terrible loss. This has to stop.
