Reports say that on Saturday night, while most people were resting, tragedy struck for Sabon-Layi community in Gwol District. Some heartless people wey we still dey call “suspected gunmen” carried their evil come and attacked the community.
Three brave men, members of the local security group who put their lives on the line to protect their neighbours, were gunned down in the attack. These are not soldiers with body armour; these are our brothers and fathers who use their chests to guard their people because sometimes, you have to be your own government.
For them to be killed just like that, in the middle of the night while on duty, is a painful blow not just to their families, but to the entire community that depended on them for safety.
Right now, the whole of Sabon-Layi is in mourning. This recurring wahala of attacks in Plateau is one that we just can’t seem to shake off. You’ll think there’s peace, and then something like this will just happen again.
Our hearts and prayers are with the families of these fallen heroes. They paid the ultimate price trying to make their home safe.
May their souls rest in peace. We pray that one day, true peace will return to Plateau State and every corner of Nigeria.
