Another tragic reminder of the growing insecurity crisis tearing through Nigeria’s North-West region
—
The people of Sanga Local Government Area in Kaduna State are currently in mourning following a brutal attack by suspected bandits that claimed the life of a well-known businessman and left an entire community shaken to its core.
Elder J.J Agbo, a prominent figure in the area, was shot dead right inside his own home — a place every Nigerian should feel safest — in what eyewitnesses are describing as a coordinated and deadly assault. As if the cold-blooded murder of a respected community elder was not devastating enough, the attackers also kidnapped his two children before fleeing into the night.
What We Know So Far
According to reports, the gunmen — believed to be part of the bandit gangs that have terrorised the North-West and North-Central zones of Nigeria for years — stormed Elder Agbo’s residence in Sanga LGA and opened fire, killing him on the spot. His two children were thereafter whisked away to an unknown location, with their whereabouts currently unknown.
The incident has sent waves of fear and grief across the local community, where Elder Agbo was widely regarded as a pillar — a man whose hard work and prominence had earned him deep respect among his people.
Bandits Are Getting Bolder — And Nigerians Are Fed Up
Let’s call this what it is: a continuing failure to protect ordinary Nigerians in their own homes.
This is not an isolated incident. From Zamfara to Katsina, from Niger State to parts of Kaduna, communities have been subjected to relentless raids, mass kidnappings, and senseless killings by armed bandits who operate with terrifying confidence. Farmers can no longer go to their fields. Business owners sleep with one eye open. And now, a man has been murdered in his own house while his children are carted off into the bush.
The audacity is staggering.
For many Nigerians, especially those in the North, this is not breaking news — it is a painful weekly, sometimes daily, reality. The hashtags trend, the condemnations pour in, security agencies issue statements, and then… life goes on until the next attack.
Calls for Urgent Government Action
Community leaders and concerned citizens are once again calling on the Kaduna State Government and federal security agencies to:
– Intensify military and police operations in Sanga LGA and surrounding areas
– Deploy intelligence resources to track the abducted children and secure their release
– Bring the perpetrators to justice rather than allowing them to melt back into the forest unpunished
– Engage local vigilante groups who often have better on-ground knowledge of bandit movements
The family of Elder J.J Agbo deserves justice. His children deserve to come home safely. And the people of Sanga — like every Nigerian community — deserve to live without the constant shadow of terror hanging over them.
