United States President Donald Trump has once again stirred controversy with his latest remarks about former President Barack Obama, this time focusing on something quite unusual – the way Obama walks down stairs.

During a political rally in Kentucky, Trump addressed his Republican supporters with comments that have since gone viral on social media. In his typical fashion, the president delivered what he called a “compliment” to Obama, though it was heavily laced with sarcasm and criticism.

The Backhanded Compliment

Speaking to the enthusiastic crowd, Trump zeroed in on Obama’s walking style, particularly how he descends stairs. According to Trump, the former president has a distinctive “bobbing” motion when going down steps.

“The only thing I admired about Barack Hussein Obama, which was nothing actually. But the only thing is the way he was bob down the stairs,” Trump told the crowd, his remarks drawing laughter and applause from supporters.

He went on to describe Obama’s gait as “unpresidential,” yet expressed surprise that Obama managed to navigate stairs without falling despite the unusual style.

“You talk about unpresidential, his bob… and I couldn’t believe that he made it without at least a noticeable major fall,” Trump continued.

Biden Catches Stray Bullets

True to form, Trump didn’t stop at Obama. He quickly pivoted to take shots at former President Joe Biden, contrasting the two Democratic leaders’ stair-walking abilities.

“But Biden was the opposite. Biden couldn’t even walk up the stairs. He fell three times walking up the stairs,” Trump said, referencing widely circulated footage from Biden’s presidency showing him stumbling on the stairs of Air Force One.

Nigerians React

The comments have sparked reactions across social media, with many Nigerians weighing in on the unusual topic of presidential discussion. While some found the remarks humorous, others questioned why a sitting president would focus on such trivial matters.

“Na only Trump fit dey talk about how person dey waka as presidential issue,” one Nigerian Twitter user commented.

The video clip of Trump’s remarks has been shared thousands of times across various platforms, adding to the ongoing political theatre that characterizes Trump’s public appearances.

This latest episode is yet another example of Trump’s unconventional approach to political discourse, where no topic – no matter how seemingly insignificant – is off-limits when it comes to his predecessors.
