Summary: A 22-year-old pregnant Ghanaian woman pleads for the release of her husband jailed for six years for domestic violence, citing financial hardship and family abandonment.

A 22-year-old expectant mother from Ghana is crying out for help after her husband was sentenced to six years in prison for domestic violence against her.

Priscilla Sackey, who is currently pregnant, has made an emotional appeal to authorities to release her husband, Richard Adjei, saying she never intended for him to end up behind bars.

How It All Started

Speaking to Crime Check, the young woman explained how a simple attempt to seek protection from police turned into a nightmare that has left her stranded and alone.

“On the day my husband was arrested, he assaulted me, and I went to report him to the police. When the police came to arrest him, he was not home. When he came back, he subjected me to beatings for reporting him to the police,” Priscilla narrated.

The situation escalated when her aunt, angered by the continued abuse, reported Richard to the police again, leading to his eventual arrest and prosecution.

The Painful Reality

Now, Priscilla finds herself in a difficult position. Despite being a victim of domestic violence, she is pleading for her abuser’s release, citing financial hardship and abandonment by both families.

“I only wanted the police to punish him to deter him from further abusing me, but he unfortunately ended up in prison,” she said tearfully.

The pregnant woman explained that both her family and her husband’s family have turned their backs on her, leaving her with no support system as she prepares to welcome their child.

“At least, if Richard were here, he would have worked to take care of us. Please help me get him released,” she pleaded.

A Marriage Marked by Violence

Priscilla and Richard have been married for just two years, but their relationship has been plagued by domestic violence. Despite acknowledging her husband’s abusive behaviour, the young woman says she regrets reporting him to the police and now wants him back.
