Nigerian Lady in China Calls Out Black Women Over Prostitution, Shares Shocking Experience

A Nigerian woman residing in China has sparked intense debate on social media after recounting a deeply offensive encounter that she believes highlights a disturbing trend affecting Black women’s reputation in the Asian country.

In a viral video that has since generated thousands of reactions across social media platforms, the visibly upset lady directly addressed African women, particularly Nigerians, living in China. She called for an immediate end to prostitution and other questionable activities that she claims are damaging the collective image of Black women in the country.

The Shocking Encounter

According to her account, the woman experienced what she described as one of the most disrespectful moments of her life during an outing in China last year. She alleged that a Chinese man approached her without any prior interaction and bluntly asked her, “How much?”

The lady explained that she was completely taken aback by the brazenly offensive question, which implied that she was a sex worker available for hire. She expressed her shock and disgust at being propositioned in such a degrading manner simply because of her race and gender.

Why She Believes This Is Happening

In her impassioned plea, the lady attributed such dehumanizing assumptions to the activities of some Black women in China who she claims are actively engaged in prostitution. She argued that these actions have created harmful stereotypes that now affect all African women living in or visiting the country, regardless of their actual professions or reasons for being there.

“This has to stop,” she emphasized in the video. “The way some of our sisters are carrying themselves here is making Chinese men think every Black woman is available for money. It’s embarrassing and it needs to end now.”

Nigerians React

The video has generated mixed reactions from Nigerians and other Africans online. While some sympathized with her experience and echoed her concerns about preserving dignity abroad, others felt her approach was too generalized and potentially stigmatizing to all Black women in China.

Some commenters shared similar experiences in various Asian countries, suggesting that racial stereotyping of African women is unfortunately not uncommon in certain regions. Others, however, questioned whether prostitution alone was responsible for such attitudes or if deeper issues of racism and cultural misunderstanding were at play.

As conversations around the dignity and representation of Africans in the diaspora continue to evolve, this lady’s candid testimony has certainly added another layer to the ongoing discussion about how our people are perceived and treated abroad.

What do you think about this issue? Have you or anyone you know experienced similar treatment while living or traveling abroad?
