Nigerian-French singer, Bukola Elemide, popularly known as Asa, has announced the heartbreaking loss of her mother following a sudden battle with brain tumour.
The award-winning artiste took to Instagram on Tuesday, March 24, to share the devastating news with fans and well-wishers. In an emotional tribute, Asa revealed that her mother’s illness came without warning, taking her away too soon.
A Mother’s Love, Forever Cherished
In her touching post, the “Jailer” crooner poured out her heart, describing her late mother as her everything – her queen, her reason for being, and her biggest supporter.
“My mother, my reason to be, my queen, my everything,” Asa wrote. “A sudden brain tumor came without warning and took you too soon. You were generous. The kindest soul.”
The singer painted a beautiful picture of her mother’s character, remembering her quiet nature, gentle spirit, and wonderful sense of humour that brought joy to those around her.
The Woman Behind the Music
Asa revealed a particularly touching detail about her relationship with her mum – despite not being musically inclined herself, her mother sang every one of her songs with complete passion and love.
“You couldn’t hold a note to save your life, but you sang every one of my songs with your whole heart,” she shared, capturing the unconditional support only a mother can give.
She described her mother as having “your own quiet swag” and being “extremely shy” – traits that clearly shaped the introspective and soulful artiste we know today.
A Legacy of Love and Strength
The singer concluded her tribute by honouring her mother’s enduring impact on her life, promising that her strength, love, and spirit would remain with her forever.
“Your strength, your love, your spirit will remain with me forever. Rest now, Mum,” Asa wrote.
As Nigerians rally around the grieving singer, fans have flooded social media with messages of comfort and prayers for the Elemide family during this difficult time.
ay her soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Asa and her family during this time of grief. May God grant them the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.
