Mohbad’s Father Says He’s Not Asking for Money

The father of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has broken his silence on the lingering controversies surrounding his son’s death and the paternity test saga that has gripped the nation.

In a recent statement that has set social media abuzz, Mr. Joseph Aloba addressed two major issues: allegations that he was soliciting financial assistance and serious concerns about the legitimacy of DNA testing centers involved in determining the paternity of his grandson, Liam.

“I’m a Landlord, Not a Beggar”

Addressing rumors that have been making rounds on social media, Mohbad’s father firmly debunked claims that he approached controversial figures Naira Marley and social activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) for rent money.

“These claims are completely false,” he stated emphatically. “I am a landlord myself. I don’t need anyone’s financial assistance for housing.”

The clarification comes amid widespread speculation and gossip that had been circulating on various Nigerian social media platforms, with many weighing in on what they perceived as family drama surrounding the late singer’s estate.

The DNA Test Palaver: “They’re Using Fake Centers”

More troubling, however, are the allegations concerning the paternity test that has become a central issue in Mohbad’s case. According to the bereaved father, his lawyer recently informed him that the DNA testing facilities selected are not legitimate.

He claimed that both testing centers – one chosen by the Lagos State welfare officer and another selected by the lawyer representing Mohbad’s widow, Wunmi – are “fake” establishments.

“This suggests that some people are working to prevent the truth from coming out,” Mr. Aloba alleged, raising questions about possible interference in what should be a straightforward scientific process.

Appeal to Lagos State Government

The concerned father has now called on the Lagos State Government to step in and ensure that proper, accredited DNA testing facilities are used. He emphasized that establishing paternity is crucial before any final burial arrangements can be made for his son, whose body has remained unburied since his controversial death in September 2023.

“We cannot proceed with the burial until this DNA test is properly conducted at a legitimate center,” he insisted.

The Bigger Picture

This latest development adds another layer to the complex web of issues surrounding Mohbad’s death, which has remained one of Nigeria’s most controversial celebrity cases. From allegations of bullying and assault to questions about the circumstances of his death, Nigerians have followed every twist and turn with keen interest.

The DNA test controversy has particularly divided opinion, with some questioning why paternity verification is necessary before burial, while others support the family’s right to establish facts about their lineage.

As the matter continues to unfold, all eyes remain on the Lagos State Government and relevant authorities to ensure transparency and proper procedure in handling this sensitive case.
