In a significant security operation, troops of Operation Hadin Kai have apprehended two suspected high-profile collaborators allegedly working with the notorious Boko Haram terrorist group in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.
The suspects, identified as Dattiwa Ali and Jidda Abdullahi, were arrested around 5:00 p.m. on March 15 at the busy Miringa Market, following actionable intelligence received by security operatives.
Joint Operation Between Military and Local Hunters
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who reported the incident on Sunday, March 22, the arrest was carried out by troops of 231 Tank Battalion working in collaboration with local hunters. This partnership between conventional military forces and community-based security operatives continues to prove effective in the ongoing fight against insurgency in the Northeast.
The operation was launched after credible intelligence reports indicated that the suspects were actively coordinating a sleeper cell in the area and storing arms and ammunition for terrorist groups operating in the region.
Swift Response Leads to Successful Arrest
“Acting on the intelligence, troops moved swiftly to the location and successfully arrested the suspects,” a security source confirmed.
During the arrest, troops recovered several items from the suspects, including:
– Two mobile phones
– Two wristwatches
– One RAM module
While these items may seem ordinary, security experts note that such devices are often used by terrorist collaborators for communication, coordination, and storing sensitive information.
Investigation Ongoing
Both suspects and the recovered items are currently in military custody, where they are undergoing further investigation. Security sources indicate that interrogations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of their alleged collaboration with Boko Haram and to identify other members of the suspected sleeper cell network.
The arrest represents another step forward in the ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and support structures in Borno State, which has borne the brunt of the Boko Haram insurgency for over a decade.
Operation Hadin Kai continues its mandate to restore peace and security to Nigeria’s Northeast region, with increasing focus on identifying and neutralizing terrorist collaborators and logistics suppliers who enable insurgent operations.
This is a developing story. More details will be provided as they become available.
