A 50-year-old woman has landed herself in serious trouble after she took matters into her own hands — literally — when she suspected her neighbour was having an affair with her husband.

We all know that Nigerian women do not play when it comes to protecting their marriages, but one woman abroad has taken “defending your home” to a whole new — and very messy — level.

Yirsi Esperanza Machado Rivera, a 50-year-old woman, was arrested by police after she reportedly grabbed a bucket filled with human waste and poured the entire contents over her next-door neighbour. Her reason? She was convinced the woman had been sleeping with her husband.

When Jealousy Meets a Bucket of Poo

Now, we have heard of women confronting side chicks with slaps, insults, and the occasional torn weave — but this woman decided that nothing sends a message quite like raw sewage. Whether she planned this attack or grabbed the nearest available weapon in the heat of the moment, we may never know. What we do* know is that the neighbour certainly did not see *that coming.

Rivera was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault after the foul-smelling incident, which is now the talk of her neighbourhood — and honestly, the entire internet.

The Real Conversation: What Would You Do?

This story has sparked a debate many Nigerian women will find very familiar. Infidelity is a painful reality that tears many homes apart, and the anger and humiliation that comes with discovering — or even suspecting — that your husband is cheating with someone close to you can push even the most level-headed person to their breaking point.

But as satisfying as pouring a bucket of poo on someone might feel in that moment, it is clear that the only person who ended up in handcuffs was Rivera herself.

The Lesson Here?

Before you pick up that bucket, sis — consider picking up a phone to call your lawyer instead. Channel that energy into protecting yourself legally and emotionally. No man is worth a criminal record, and no neighbour is worth the embarrassment of being on the wrong side of a poo-throwing arrest.

As they say in Nigeria: “No use your hand spoil your future because of wetin another person do.”
