The Shocking Incident
The incident, which occurred on Monday, March 9, at the reserve that houses former circus animals, quickly turned into a nightmare for the man, estimated to be around 40 years old.
After freeing the dangerous animals from their enclosures, the man suddenly realized the gravity of his mistake when the lions turned on him. He desperately sought refuge inside one of their empty cages as the big cats prowled around him.

In a video that has since surfaced online via Mexican newspaper Milenio’s YouTube channel, shaky footage apparently recorded by the man himself shows the terrifying moments he spent trapped in the cage. The clip shows the lions moving menacingly through the bars while their roars echo in the background.
The footage also reveals a tragic casualty – a dog that was present at the scene was killed by the lions during the chaos. The lifeless animal can be seen on the grass in the disturbing video.
According to reports, the man tried to protect himself by positioning himself behind a gate that created a small triangular space between the gate and the inner fence where the lions were prowling.
Rescue and Aftermath
Zoo keepers eventually discovered the situation and raised the alarm. The man, wearing a torn black sweatshirt and shredded blue jeans, was rescued and the six lions were safely returned to their enclosures.
He was immediately rushed to hospital where he received treatment for severe injuries to his arms and face. Photos from the hospital show extensive damage – his face heavily bandaged, swollen, and covered with deep scratches.
Fortunately, despite the chaos, all six lions were unharmed and are now back in their enclosures.
