Summary: See why presidential aide Bayo Onanuga is blasting Governor Seyi Makinde for demanding a UN investigation into the Oyo abduction. The political scene just got hotter!
Omo, the political table just dey shake for Naija right now, and the drama is coming straight from the Presidency against the Oyo State government!
If you never hear, make I give you the full gist. The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Chief Bayo Onanuga, has come out with fire to knack Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State over a recent move.
So, what did Governor Makinde do wey make Oga Onanuga para like this?
Apparently, following the unfortunate abduction incident in Oyo State, Governor Makinde decided that local investigation wasn’t enough. The governor called for a proper, high-level investigation backed by the United Nations (UN). For his mind, he probably wants international eyes on the matter to ensure everything is done properly.
But ehn, it looks like that move did not sit well with Aso Rock at all.
As soon as the news dropped, Bayo Onanuga took to the media to express his serious disappointment. He basically asked, “Oga Governor, wetin dey happen?”
According to the presidential adviser, running to the UN for a domestic issue is a big slap on Nigeria’s face. He sees it as undermining the country’s own security and intelligence agencies. In simple terms, it’s like you have a problem in your father’s house, and instead of calling your family to settle it, you run to the entire village square to report your people.
Onanuga’s point is clear: Nigeria is a sovereign nation with its own institutions capable of handling its internal affairs. Calling for a UN probe, in his view, makes it seem like the country is a failed state that cannot manage its own security challenges.
So, while Governor Makinde is seeking international support, the Presidency is telling him to calm down and have faith in our own system. This one na proper political gbas gbos!
What do you think? Was Makinde right to ask for a UN-backed investigation, or is this a family affair that should be kept in-house? Let us know your thoughts.
