Kidnappers Demand N100 Million

Summary: Kidnappers have contacted the family of Joseph Kayode Aladesuyi, Secretary of Okeluju LCDA, demanding N100 million ransom after abducting him from a poultry farm in Ondo State.

The family of a kidnapped local government secretary in Ondo State is appealing for urgent financial assistance after his abductors demanded a staggering N100 million ransom for his release.

Joseph Kayode Aladesuyi, who serves as the Secretary of Okeluju Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Akoko North-West Local Government Area, was abducted on Monday morning, March 9, 2026, alongside a female farmer, Esther Akinlolu, at a poultry farm in Akure North Local Government Area.

Details of the Abduction

The incident occurred at a farm located along Kajola Road, where Aladesuyi, also a farmer, was present when the gunmen struck. Both victims were whisked away by the kidnappers in what has become an increasingly common occurrence across several Nigerian states.

Family Receives Ransom Demand

The kidnappers established contact with Aladesuyi’s family on Tuesday morning, making their financial demands known. In a heartfelt statement released by the family, they confirmed the distressing development.

“Good morning, with heavy hearts we inform you that our father Honourable Joseph Aladesuyi was abducted yesterday,” the statement read. “The kidnappers contacted the family this morning and have demanded a ransom of N100,000,000.”

The family has now turned to the community, friends, and colleagues for support, soliciting urgent financial assistance to secure their father’s safe release.

Growing Insecurity Concerns

This latest incident adds to the mounting security challenges facing Ondo State and Nigeria at large. Kidnapping for ransom has become a lucrative criminal enterprise, with perpetrators often targeting government officials, businesspeople, and farmers.

The abduction of a local government official raises fresh questions about the safety of public servants and citizens going about their legitimate business, particularly in rural areas where security presence may be limited.

As at the time of this report, there has been no official statement from Ondo State Police Command or the state government regarding efforts to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.

The families continue to hope for the safe return of their loved ones as they navigate this traumatic ordeal.
