Chai! The news coming out of Bauchi State this morning is one that will break anyone’s heart. Our hearts are heavy as we report a wicked and senseless attack on the people of Rafin Ciyawa village in Ningi Local Government Area.
According to reports from residents on the ground, these daredevil bandits stormed the community and unleashed pure terror, leaving tears, sorrow, and blood in their wake.
In the brutal attack, two innocent children had their lives cut short, just like that. Two promising futures, gone. What did these children do to deserve this? This is a tragedy that no parent should ever have to face.
As if that was not enough, the gunmen also injured six other people during the mayhem. These individuals are reportedly receiving treatment for the injuries they sustained.
To pour more salt on the fresh wound, the bandits kidnapped three residents from the community, taking them away to an unknown destination. Now, three more families are thrown into a state of panic, confusion, and fear, praying for the safe return of their loved ones.
This is getting out of hand. Every other day, it’s one sad story of kidnapping or another senseless killing. When will our communities, especially in the North, know peace again? When will people be able to sleep with both eyes closed in their own homes?
We are calling on the security agencies to step up and do the needful. The people of Rafin Ciyawa and indeed all Nigerians deserve to be protected.
