Borno state, Nigeria has once again been struck by the devastating terrorism of Boko Haram and ISWAP, as gunmen targeted a secondary school in the town of Lassa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area.
On the morning of June 29th, the armed group stormed the Government Day Secondary School, where students were sitting their NECO exams. In the horrific attack, a teacher was k!lled and an unconfirmed number of students were abducted.
This latest assault is a tragic reminder of the ongoing security crisis that has plagued the northeastern region of Nigeria for over a decade. Boko Haram and its splinter faction ISWAP have wreaked havoc, targeting innocent civilians, schools, and other soft targets in their campaign of violence and extremism.
The abduction of students is a particularly cruel tactic, robbing young Nigerians of their right to education and shattering the dreams of families across Borno. This heartbreaking incident serves as a solemn call to action, demanding that authorities do more to protect vulnerable communities and end this horrific chapter of the insurgency.
As Nigerians, we must stand united in condemning these heinous acts and renewing our commitment to peace, security, and the empowerment of our youth. Only through concerted efforts can we overcome the shadow of terror and build a brighter future for all.
