A family has been plunged into deep mourning following the tragic death of a Point-of-Sale (POS) operator who was shot and killed by suspected armed robbers in Gboko, Benue State.
The victim, identified as Raphael Luther Akpetomun, was murdered in cold blood on Sunday evening, March 8, 2026, while attending to customers at his POS business location in Gboko.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred when armed men stormed the shop where Raphael was operating his business. The assailants opened fire on the young entrepreneur before making away with an undisclosed sum of money, leaving his lifeless body behind.
A Lover’s Grief
The tragic incident has left Raphael’s loved ones devastated, particularly his partner, Anhwer Torkwase Dameriz, who took to Facebook to express her profound grief.
In an emotional post accompanied by photos of herself with the deceased and a heart-wrenching video showing her weeping while caressing his framed photograph, Torkwase wrote:
“My heart has been ripped off my chest oooo!!! Lord you let them tear me into shreds! They took my baby away forever.”
